Well on our way from NH to NY, the top opened the 2-3inches as other viewers wrote. Unless you have a sunroof, you will not know this is happening so BEWARE. My husband stopped 2x to adjust the positioning of the luggage inside of the Thule and it still opened going 48mph, it also opened while empty.
