need more dimension specifications As part of self education, I am replacing the BB and front/rear gear sets on a MY2000 Raleigh M80 MTB (7×3 speed). Already installed the BB and the rear gear cassette several days ago which were almost exact duplicates. The OEM crank set is Shimano Altus 24x32x38-170mm but this Altus set was the closest I could find on Amazon. It arrived yesterday and I quickly noticed that the OEM crank set are all flat gears and the new set has about 4 mm offset to the inside. The spacing is the same…
Better than the original set. I used this to refit a ’96 model Peugeot MTB, it had a 24x32x38 Altus crankset with old style ball bearings. I also ordered the cartridge style bearing set as well while being careful to measure the width of the bottom end. Now, the smaller gear allows me to go snail, maybe slug slow, in comparison and the larger gear is better for those trails hardpack or paved so that I’m not pedaling faster than the wheels can spin. In all respects the set is an upgrade over the original while having the…
