Awesome engineering, but could use more durable plastic Really enjoying this purchase. It was very easy to install and it works just as advertised. I can load the bike by myself in just a matter of minutes. I used to have to disassemble ours and load it in the back of the vehicle, and would be covered in grease from the chain by the time I was done. You definitely need to get it as close to the edge of the car as you can, so that as you are loading it, the pedals or chain do not touch the side of your vehicle. Also, if you use round bars, get a…
The Sidewinder is another well-thought-out product from Yakima – but go easy on the plastic bits. The rack installs easily enough (though not with Mighty-Mounts), and even on a 2012 Outback has a low enough profile to fit into a standard-height garage while on the car (no bike).
