Solid unit with ends that protect the bike – very happy with the this adapter. The Yakima unit has some weight to it and feels very solid. The ends are completely covered with a rubberplastic coating, which seems sturdy, so the bike won’t be scratched or damaged by any metal to metal contact. I was also looking at the Allen adapter as it has a spring to keep tension on the bar when installed while the Yakima does not have a spring. The reason I chose the Yakima was two fold – I use a Yakima Ridgeback Hitch carrier and the Yakima unit has ends that completely close…
Solid built unit but unfortunately…….
which overall I like better but the one with the red collars is … The one we received does not have the black collars on each end as pictured but had the red collars. We also have the one with the black collars as pictured (you really do need the adapters for a women’s bike), which overall I like better but the one with the red collars is the one we can use for our kid-sized bike (the other one didn’t quite fit), so I’m glad we have both at this point. It is a little awkward to use and a little hard to open the collars but it does enable us to put our bikes…
