Many years ago I used to be a dedicated cyclist and I never even considered buying an exercise bike. I couldn’t think of any benefits that one of these devices would be to me. Then eventually I decided to buy a second hand exercise bike just to try it out and I discovered that there were some immediate and significant benefits. The first of these is that I could ride the bike without worrying about the weather and having the right equipment for the weather. I could also stop in the middle of my ride and make a cup of coffee or tea, or even have one to hand as I rode along.

I also realised that I could ride along and watch the television at the same time so that I didn’t get bored on a long ride. But one of the biggest advantages was that I was never far from home. So if I did a long ride and I got tired I could just climb off the exercise bike and I was home! That was definitely an advantage rather than getting really tired on a ride and discovering that you are miles from home with quite a number of hills to climb to get back!

All in all this meant that I actually got to use my exercise bike a lot more because it was safe, easy and convenient. It was also the same exercise experience regardless of the weather. Now a lovely ride in the sunshine in the Summer is still wonderful but a cold wet ride in the icy Winter is not nearly as appealing.

But there are a large number of different exercise bikes that are available and so the choice about which one to buy is therefore more complicated. In this book I am going to explore the particular advantages of the recumbent exercise bike rather than a conventional exercise bike. The reason for that is that there are particular advantages with a recumbent exercise bike over a conventional exercise bike. The advantages are particularly useful for people who are not as mobile, or who are heavier and for those who are older. However some of the advantages are the same for people of all abilities, weights and ages.

This book is dedicated to helping you to consider the factors that would enable you to choose the perfect Recumbent Exercise bike.
